1.40 Newbury: Agetur UK 40th Anniversary In Business Maiden Hurdle

CAPTAIN HUGO looked like a smart prospect when winning a bumper at Worcester by nine lengths back in May, and has every chance of posting a big effort on his hurdling debut here. The Phillip Hobbs & Johnson White yard are currently in form, and this five-year-old has a fine chance of adding to their tally under Sean Houlihan.

CAPTAIN HUGO – 10/3 (Win)

2.15 Newbury: CSP Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle

KHRISMA was a dual Grade 3 bumper winner when trained in France, and sets a solid standard here on what she has shown so far on these shores, notably her second-placed effort at Punchestown when she was last seen in May. She represents the powerhouse connections of JP McManus, Nicky Henderson, and Nico de Boinville, and she could prove tough to beat here.

KHRISMA – 7/4 (Win)

6.00 Newcastle: Midnite Are Upping The Betting Game Handicap

UNCLE SAM will contest this particular contest off the same mark as his last winning one, with that sole success also coming over course and distance. He steps back up to six furlongs, having kept on over five last time, and things look in place for him to post a bold bid in this for the team of David Thompson and Oisin Orr.

UNCLE SAM – 6/1 (Each-Way)

7.45 Chelmsford: ‘Timeform Sprint Series Qualifier’ Handicap

MART went very close at Lingfield last time out over six furlongs, finishing a neck second of six, and he’ll contest this off the same mark as that effort. He also has the added bonus of a further seven pounds coming off his back via Toby Moore, and that has to make him a serious player here for Dylan Cunha. He should be going very close.

MART – 11/4 (Win)
