3.30 Leicester: Dark Horse Wines Handicap: Following nearly a week’s break, we’re back in action at Leicester on Tuesday, with my first selection coming within the 3.30, which is a Class 6 handicap that’s contested over seven furlongs. I like Freedom Bay here for Stuart Kittow and Rob Hornby. She showed much improved form on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month, finishing a couple of lengths fourth of nine and doing her best work late. That was also her first run of the season, so further improvement is likely here. Freedom Bay – 7/1 (Each-Way) (4 places – Several firms)
4.00 Leicester: J Vineyards Fillies’ Handicap: My second selection of the afternoon comes within the 4.00, and this is a Class 5 fillies handicap that’s ridden over a distance of six furlongs. I’ve come down on Baileys Jubilation here for Charlie Johnston and Daniel Muscutt. The bare result of her latest run at Wolverhampton, where she finished fourth of four, doesn’t reflect the full picture, as she was only a length and a quarter behind the eventual winner. That was also over five, and the step back up to six here is probably what she’s after, and she’s also on a tumbling handicap mark. She should be making her presence felt at this level. Baileys Jubilation – 7/1 (Each-Way)
4.35 Leicester: Canyon Road Wines Handicap: Next up for me will be the 4.35 from Leicester, and this is a Class 5 handicap that’s contested over a mile and two furlongs. I like Masterinthewoods here for the team of Emma Lavelle and Cieran Fallon. He posted a very encouraging effort on his handicap debut at Goodwood earlier this month, finishing third of ten and just two and a quarter lengths behind the winner, despite having a troubled run. He remains on the same mark here and should naturally progress further following that run, with it being his seasonal reappearance. Masterinthewoods – 9/2 (Each-Way) (NB) (4 places – Several firms)
5.10 Leicester: Mark West Pinot Noir Handicap: My fourth and final selection comes up at 5.10, and this is Class 6 handicap action over seven furlongs. I’m with Dashing Donkey here, who represents William Stone and the mount of Jack Mitchell. He ran well on his first run of the campaign at Chelmsford last month, finishing third of eleven and a length and three-quarters behind the winner that day. He’ll contest this off a pound lower mark, which is just a pound higher than his last winning one. If he comes on from that Chelmsford run, he can have a big say in this. Dashing Donkey – 9/2 (Each-Way) (NAP) (5 places – Several firms)
