1.40 Leicester: Annual Membership @LeicesterRaces Great Christmas Present Maiden Hurdle: My first selection of the day on Monday comes in the 1.40 at Leicester which is a Class 3 maiden hurdle over two miles and four and a half furlongs. This looks like a good opportunity for Woodland Park who represents the team of Olly Muprhy and Sean Bowen. He was an impressive bumper winner at the back end of last season and went down by just half of a length on his hurdling debut at Carlisle last month. He’ll almost certainly come on for that run and should go very well here. Woodland Park – 5/4 (Win) (NAP)
2.00 Exeter: DragonBet Born From The Betting Ring Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle: Next up for me is the 2.00 at Exeter which is a Class 4 handicap hurdle over two miles and seven furlongs for conditional jockeys over two miles and seven furlongs. I’ve gone with Kiss My Face here for Alastair Ralph and Murray Dodd who takes off eight pounds. He was second at Bangor last month and is effectively five pounds lower here with the rider’s claim coming into play. I think he has every chance and has to be considered as a player. Kiss My Face – 3/1 (Win)
2.50 Plumpton: Plant Movements Ltd Handicap Chase: My third selection of the day comes from Plumpton and in the 2.50 which is a Class 4 handicap chase that’s ridden over two miles and a furlong. I’ve gone with Koenigsstern for Nick Gifford and James Davies. He finished second of seven at Fontwell on his chase debut last month and should progress from that run here. He’ll contest this off the same mark and can put in a bold showing for connections. Koenigsstern – 9/4 (Win) (NB)
3.30 Exeter: DragonBet Download The App Today Handicap Chase: Signing me off for the afternoon will be the 3.30 at Exeter which is a Class 4 handicap chase over three miles. I’m with Jack Sprat here for the team of Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan. He was a dual winner over hurdles, taking two handicap contests, and posted a reasonable effort on his chasing debut when fifth of nine at Wetherby last month. He’s another that should improve for his second outing of the season and I suspect he’ll be a lot closer in this smaller field. Jack Sprat – 9/4 (Win)
