Saturday Preview

2.00 Newton Abbot: Racing Partnership Novices’ Hurdle: Kicking things off for me on Wednesday will be the 2.00 at Newton Abbot which is a Class 3 novice hurdle over two miles and five and a half furlongs. It’s hard for me to get away from Kruger Park here for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden. He gained vast experience over hurdles last season and even bagged himself a handicap hurdle at Newbury back in March, which should stand him in good stead in this. One Big Bag looks a fair threat to him, however, I still think that the Nicholls charge should prove a very live player in this. Kruger Park – 9/4 (Win)

2.38 Nottingham: Experience Hospitality At Nottingham Racecourse Novice Stakes: Next up for me is the 2.38 at Nottingham and this is a Class 4 novice event over a mile and six furlongs. I like Fireblade in this for John & Thady Gosden who’s the mount of Kieran Shoemark. He showed significant improvement last time out when finishing half of a length second of six at Ascot, staying on well in the closing stages. That run gave the impression that this step up in trip should suit and he should continue to progress. Fireblade – 11/8 (Win)

2.50 Fakenham: Coleman “National Hunt” Maiden Hurdle: My third selection of the afternoon comes from Fakenham and in the 2.50 which is a Class 4 maiden hurdle over two miles. I’m with Jubilant here who represents the team of James Owen and Sam Twiston-Davies. He was an easy winner of a bumper when last seen at Fontwell back in May and looks a potentially useful prospect over hurdles. The yard have been in solid form so far this term and he’s another that should give a good showing. Jubilant – 10/11 (Win) (NAP)

3.38 Nottingham: Come Racing 6th November Handicap: Signing me off for the day will be the 3.38 at Nottingham which is a Class 5 handicap over five furlongs. This can go to Collusion for the combination of James Tate and Rossa Ryan. He posted a fine effort on his handicap debut at Yarmouth earlier this month when finishing three-quarters of a length second of eleven, and will contest this off the same mark. It would be disappointing should he not follow up on that run in this particular assignment. Collusion – 2/1 (Win) (NB)
