Welcome aboard to this Midweek Preview where I’ve got four selections to share with you all at Fakenham where we continue our progression through the National Hunt campaign. As ever, if you are punting, make sure to do so in a responsible manner.

1.40: Sculthorpe ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle: We kick things off at 1:40 with a maiden hurdle over a distance of two miles. I find it hard to get away from Roger Pol here who currently heads the betting for Jamie Snowden and Gavin Sheehan. He was a dual bumper winner last season and made a very encouraging start to life over hurdles last month when second of eleven at Newton Abbott. If building on that effort he’ll be tough to oppose. Roger Pol – 11/10 (Win)

2.15: Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2023 Fillies’ Juvenile Hurdle: My second selection of the afternoon comes in the 2.15 which is a Juvenile Hurdle, also over two miles. I’m taking a chance on Royal Athena here for James Owen and Harry Cobden. She was a winner on the flat and was a moderate fifth over hurdles last time out, quite a distance behind Grain Of Hope who she’ll reoppose here. She is, however, considerably better off at the weights on this occasion and I do think she’ll progress from that last effort. Therefore, she’s the pick for me. Royal Athena – 7/2 (Win)

3.15: Burnham Market Mares’ Handicap Hurdle: It’s the 3:15 where I turn my attention to next, which is a Mares Handicap Hurdle that’s ridden over two miles and four furlongs. I’m siding with Luna Dora here for Tom Symonds and Ben Poste. She posted a fine effort when she was last seen at Uttoxeter back in October when finishing second of fourteen in a competitive handicap. She’s contesting this off just a two-pound higher mark and if she turns up in the same form I think she could prove very tough to beat. Luna Dora – 7/2 (Win)

3.45: Great Ryburgh Novices’ Handicap Chase: My fourth and final selection of the afternoon comes in the 3:45 which is a handicap chase that’s ridden over two miles and half of a furlong. My pick here comes in the form of Llandinabo Lad for David Noonan and Tom Symonds. He’s the top-weight in the race and despite not being able to get into the winners’ enclosure for a while, this represents a significant ease in grade in the types of contests he’s been competing in recently. His run at Ffos Las last month should’ve blown the cobwebs away and it would be disappointing should he not be competitive in this type of race off his current mark. Llandinabo Lad – 3/1 (Win)
