Catterick Chepstow

Tuesday Tips. (29/10/24)

Tuesday 29th October 2024

Saturday Preview (42)

12.40 Catterick: racingtv.com/freetrial EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes: My first selection of the day on Tuesday comes in the 12.40 at Catterick which is a Class 5 maiden on the level over five furlongs. This looks like a fine opportunity for Farandaway to get his head in front for Grant Tuer and Oliver Stammers. He’s finished a close second on both of his starts to date with his last effort coming when being narrowly denied by a neck at Ayr in August. That run came on good to soft and he should be very tough to beat here. Farandaway – 4/5 (Win) (NAP)

1.12 Catterick: Download The Raceday Ready App Handicap: I’m staying at Catterick for my second pick of the day and the 1.12 which is a Class 6 handicap that is ridden over a distance of six furlongs. I’m strong on the chances of Fortunate Star here for the team of Declan Carroll and Zak Wheatley who takes off three pounds. He’s now eleven pounds lower than his last success which came over course and distance back in April and he’s been knocking on the door as of late. It would be disappointing should he not post a serious bid. Fortunate Star – 13/8 (Win) (NB)

2.00 Chepstow: Cambria Consulting Handicap Hurdle: It’s over to Chepstow now for selection number three and this is a Class 5 handicap hurdle over two miles. I’m siding with Pillar Rock here who’s currently trading at a best price of 9/2 for Dan & Harry Skelton. He was a slightly underwhelming fourth of twelve on his handicap debut last month at Bangor when going off favourite, however, the winner of that race has since gone on to win another two races. He’s been dropped a couple of pounds here and should build on that effort. Pillar Rock – 9/2 (Win)

3.10 Chepstow: Colourfence Newport Low Maintenance Fencing Handicap Chase: My fourth and final selection comes in the 3.10 at Chepstow which is a Class 3 handicap chase over two miles and three and a half furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Can You Call here for Evan Williams and Adam Wedge. He’s dropped back down to the same mark of which he finished second off in this race last year, with that outing also coming on his seasonal reappearance. He signed off his season last term with a fine second at Sandown and I think he looks solid here at a nice price. Can You Call – 15/2 (Each-Way) (5 places – Sky Bet)
