3.02 Nottingham: £9 Racedays At Nottingham Racecourse Handicap: The first of four selections for me on Tuesday comes within the 3.02 at Nottingham, which is a Class 6 handicap that’s contested over a distance of five furlongs. I like Stroxx here for Liam Bailey and Cian Horgan who takes off five pounds. He’s generally a consistent type and won off just a pound higher at Catterick back in April, and was a neck second last time out, also at Catterick. He’ll contest this off the same mark as his latest Catterick outing with the added bonus of five pounds coming off his back. If he turns up in the same form, he should go close. Stroxx – 13/2 (Each-Way)
3.32 Nottingham: Harkila Trust Your Instinct Maiden Stakes: My second selection comes within the 3.32 at Nottingham and this is a Class 5 maiden that’s ridden over a mile and half of a furlong. I’m with Hymnbook here for Sebastian Woods and Billy Loughlane who’s currently trading at a best price of 7/2. He has the benefit of race fitness here and has finished in the placings in his last two starts, most recently at Wetherby last month when finishing a close-up second of ten by a shoulder. Should he progress again from that run, he can have a big say in this. Hymnbook – 7/2 (Win) (NB)
4.10 Lingfield: Airey Miller 30th Anniversary Handicap: It’s over to Lingfield for my third selection of the day and the 4.10, which is a Class 5 handicap over five furlongs. I’ve come down on Hello Luna here for Jonathon Portman and Rossa Ryan. She posted an encouraging effort on her handicap debut at Windsor last month when finishing fourth of ten and a length and a quarter behind the winner. She’ll contest this off a pound lower and should progress further in her second handicap outing. It would be disappointing should she not go close here, and she has an eye-catching jockey booking in Rossa Ryan. Hello Luna – 10/3 (Win) (NAP)
4.32 Nottingham: Family Fun Raceday Sunday June 1st June Novice Stakes: My fourth and final selection of the afternoon comes back at Nottingham and in the 4.32, which is a Class 5 novice event that’s contested over a mile and two furlongs. I’m siding with Only One Blue here for the team of Richard Hannon and Sean Levey. She’s been sent off the favourite on both of her racecourse starts to date, and hasn’t been beaten far in either run, finishing three-quarters of a length second of twelve on debut before finishing fourth of six at Kempton in January by the same distance. She did her best work late in both of said outings, suggesting this further trip could unlock further improvement. Only One Blue – 7/1 (Each-Way)
