Wincanton

Thursday Tips. (21/11/24)

Thursday 21st November 2024

Saturday Preview (21)

1.45 Wincanton: Lenny Roberts Memorial Trophy Novices’ Hurdle: I’ve got four selections from Wincanton on Thursday due to inspections hovering over the other meets, and the first selection comes within the 1.45 which is a Class 4 novice hurdle that’s ridden over two miles and five and a half furlongs. This can go to Ambion View for Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell. He got the better of Ace Of Spades on his hurdling debut at Exeter last month and that rival has since come out and won a Class 2 event at Cheltenham’s November Meeting. He’s the one to beat here for me and should have enough in the locker to give away the weight. Ambion View – 8/11 (Win) (NB)

2.50 Wincanton: Danny McNab Bookmakers Sponsors Wincanton Racecourse Handicap Hurdle: Next up for me is the 2.50 which is a Class 3 handicap hurdle over two miles and four furlongs. I like Pyffo here for the team of Harry Derham and Paul O’Brien. He’s having his first start for the yard today having previously been with Jonjo O’Neil, and during his time there he was progressive. He won his first start within handicap company back in June before finishing fourth of thirteen in a competitive handicap at Market Rasen back in July. The yard does well with their recruits and I think this is another who can hit the ground running for them and go very well here. Pyffo – 4/1 (Win)

3.23 Wincanton: 2025 Wincanton Fixtures On Sale Now Handicap Chase: My third selection of the afternoon comes within the 3.23 which is a Class 4 handicap chase over a mile and seven and a half furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Hatos here who’s another for Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell. He was underwhelming on his seasonal reappearance at Fontwell last month when finishing a distant third when going off favourite, however, it’s likely that he needed the run that day and he’s now back down his last winning mark. The drop back in trip should also suit and if he gets a clear round he can have a say. Hatos – 11/2 (Each-Way)

3.58 Wincanton: RCA Awards Warmest Welcome – Wincanton Racecourse Handicap Hurdle: Concluding my selections for the day will be the 3.58 which is Class 5 handicap hurdle action over a mile and seven furlongs. I’m strong on American Land here who’s a third pick for Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell. He was a five-length winner at Taunton last week in a similar contest and will escape a penalty for his assignment here. It would be disappointing should he not go in again here and he could well go on a string of victories for connections. He’s the one they clearly have to beat. American Land – 10/11 (Win) (NAP)
