Welcome aboard to this week’s Saturday Preview where I’ll be focusing on Newcastle & Wincanton, due to the postponement of Sandown. I’ll have several selections throughout the card so make sure to gamble responsibly if you are punting.
1.05 Newcastle: QuinnBet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Hurdle: I’ll be kicking things off at Newcastle with their 1.05 which is a handicap hurdle contested over two miles and seven and a half furlongs. I’m siding with Teecomponentstrig here for the team of Gillian Barnes and Brian Hughes. He went close here last month when finishing second by a neck to Juge Et Parti, who he reopposes here on better terms. I think the step back up in trip will suit and he seems to act best on testing ground. Teecomponentstrig – 7/2JF (Win)
1.30 Wincanton: Virgin Bet Daily Extra Places Handicap Chase: Next up for me is the 1.30 at Wincanton which is a handicap chase that’s ridden over a mile and seven and a half furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Fast Buck here at 11/4 for Jane Williams and Lorcan Williams. Despite not showing much so far this term, he looks to be on a decent mark judging by his form from last winter and he also reperesents a yard who are in solid form currently. This doesn’t look the strongest of handicaps either, so he should have every chance of bouncing back to form. Fast Buck – 11/4 (Win)
1.40 Newcastle: QuinnBet Acca Bonus Novices’ Hurdle: Back to Newcastle now for the 1.40 which is a novice hurdle over two miles and a furlong. I’m siding with Two Auld Pals here for Lucinda Russell and Patrick Wadge who takes off three pounds. He won three times on the flat, including on heavy going, and made a solid start to life over the obstacles when second at Bangor last month. He will have learnt a lot from that, and if naturally progressing he should prove a big player in this. Two Auld Pals – EvsF (Win)
2.05 Wincanton: Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Handicap Hurdle: We move over to Wincanton for my fourth selection of the afternoon, and this is handicap hurdle action over a mile and seven furlongs. I like the chances of Fourofakind here for Harry Derham and Paul O’Brien. He’s not been setting the world alight as of late, however, he’s been dropping down the weights as a result and this is an easier assignment than what he’s been contesting lately. It would be disappointing should he not go well in this. Fourofakind – 7/2F (Win)
