2.25: Newt In Somerset Handicap Chase: My first pick of the day on Thursday comes in the 2.25 which is a handicap chase over three miles and a furlong. I’m with Regal Blue here for the team of Jonjo O’Neil and Nick Schofield. He put a disappointing effort in the Sussex National behind last time out when running out a comfortable winner in a Haydock handicap by three lengths. He won going away on that occasion so this step up in trip should be within his sights, and I think he’s the best horse in the race here. Regal Blue – 9/2 (Win)

3.30: Wiltshire Air Ambulance Handicap Hurdle: I’m moving onto the 3.30 for my second selection which is handicap hurdle action over three miles and half of a furlong. I’m taking a chance on the twelve-year-old and outside of the field here in Burrows Park for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch. He’s far from the most straightforward of animals, however, he has showed glimpses of form this season, most notably when second on heavy going at Chepstow in December. He’ll get his conditions once again here and he’s on a lowly mark. Burrows Park – 6/1 (Each-Way)

4.05: Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust Handicap Hurdle: Next up it’s the 4.05 which is more handicap hurdle action this time over a distance of a mile and seven furlongs. I like Robber’s Bridge here for Simon Earle and James Best. He’s a long-standing maiden but is ultra-consistent without winning, placing in several of his races including a neck second last time out at Leicester in January. He’ll contest this race off just a two-pound higher mark and if turning up in the same form he’s got every chance of getting that elusive victory. Robber’s Bridge – 3/1 (Win)

4.40: Julias House Handicap Chase: My fourth and final selection of the afternoon comes in the 4.40 which is a handicap chase over three miles and a furlong. I’m siding with Camulus here who represents the team of Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch. He returned from nearly a year off the track to finish second for his new stable last time out Lingfield at the backend of February, he should progress from that effort off just a two-pound higher mark and it would be disappointing should he not go very close here for a yard who relish these testing conditions. Camulus – 15/8 (Win) (NAP)
