Wednesday Tips. (Grassroots Finals Day)

Wednesday 2nd October 2024

Saturday Preview (16)

3.10 Nottingham: Grassroots Series Final Nursery Handicap: It’s Grassroots Finals Day at Nottingham and I’m starting my selections there in the 3.10 which is a Class 2 nursery handicap over six furlongs. I’m with Blewburton here for Eve Johnson Houghton and Mia Nicholls who takes off five pounds. He was a winner on soft ground in a maiden at Leicester back in the spring and has had a quiet summer since, running just a further three times. He made his handicap debut at Sandown on his most recent outing where he was slightly underwhelming, however, a return to a testing surface could bring out further improvement here. Blewburton – 9/2 (Win)

3.45 Nottingham: Grassroots Series Final Sprint Handicap: Next up is the 3.45 which is a Class 2 sprint handicap that’s contested over six furlongs. I like Hierarchy here for Jamie Osbourne and Saffie Osbourne. He acts on soft ground and remains well-treated here on previous form as he’s been kept on the same mark or a second-placed effort at Hamilton last month. He should be winning races soon off this kind of mark and if getting some luck in the run can make his presence felt in this particular assignment. Hierarchy – 6/1 (Each-Way) (NB)

4.20 Nottingham: Grassroots Series Stayers’ Final Handicap: My third selection of the day comes in the 4.20 which is the Stayers event over a mile and six furlongs. I’ve sided with It’s All About You here for Jennie Candlish and Kieran O’Neill. He comes into the race in fine form winning his last two outings, with the most recent success coming on heavy ground at Ffos Las back in August. He’ll have no issue with the distance or ground and could well have further improvement to come. A bold showing would be no surprise. It’s All About You – 5/1 (Each-Way)

4.55 Nottingham: Grassroots Series Middle Distance Final Handicap: Signing me off for the day will be the 4.55 which is the Middle Distance Final over a mile and two furlongs. I’m strong on Amancio here for Jack Channon and Rose Dawes who takes off five pounds. He may not have many wins to his name but is ultra-consistent in running many solid efforts in defeat, and this was the case once again last time out when finishing half of a length second at Sandown last month. He acts on soft ground and can go well off what’s effectively a four-pound lower mark here with the rider’s claim. Amancio – 5/2 (Win) (NAP)
