Saturday Preview (17)

2.40 Salisbury: Pyledriver British EBF Novice Stakes: Getting things underway for us on Thursday will be the 2.40 at Salisbury which is a Class 4 novice event over seven furlongs. I’m with Chantilly Lace here who represents the team of Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan. She cost 375,000gns as a yearling and this doesn’t look like the strongest of novice events, she’s also a filly by Lope De Vega who did have form on soft ground and I think she could post a bold bid to make the perfect start on her racecourse debut. Chantilly Lace – 7/4 (Win)

2.55 Warwick: Clarity Wealth Management Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase: We move over to Warwick now for the 2.55 which is a Class 3 novice handicap chase over two miles and four furlongs. I like Guard Your Dreams in this for Nigel Twiston-Davies and Sam Twiston-Davies. He was a very useful hurdler on his day, contesting many graded contests, and he’ll make his chasing debut here on what looks like a very tempting mark. If he proves as good over the larger obstacles he should be having a serious say in this. Guard Your Dreams – 10/3 (Win)

3.50 Salisbury: Madar Corporation Handicap: My third selection of the afternoon comes back at Salisbury and in the 3.50 which is a Class 4 handicap over six furlongs. I’m siding with Executive Decision here for Jamie & Saffie Osbourne. I put her up last time out when she returned to form at Newmarket last week, going down by just a neck in a Class 2 handicap. That effort also came on soft ground and she’ll contest this off the same mark, if she turns up in the same form she can be bang there. Executive Decision – 7/1 (Each-Way) (NB)

4.10 Southwell: Carl Stocks Memorial Karaoke Stakes Handicap Hurdle: Signing me off for the day will be the 4.10 at Southwell which is a Class 4 handicap hurdle over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I’m strong on the chances of In The Air here for Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville. He’s making his stable debut here for Seven Barrows and will contest this off a mark he should at least be competitive off. He’s versatile ground-wise and it would be disappointing should he not go well in a race of this nature off his current mark. In The Air – 10/3 (Win) (NAP)
