Feature Meeting: Warwick
.50: Pony Racing Authority Graduates Handicap Hurdle: After a very tough day’s punting at Wolverhampton on Saturday we’re hoping to bounce back at Warwick on Sunday and I’m kicking things off with the 1.50 which is a handicap hurdle over two miles. I’m with Billytherealbigred here for Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero and the mount of Toby Wynne. He’s an unexposed sort who got his head in-front last time out when beating Robber’s Bridge who franked the form when winning last week. He should have more to offer and a bold bid looks likely here. Billytherealbigred – 11/10 (Win)
.25: Country Shows Agility Novices’ Hurdle: My second pick of the day on Sunday comes in the 2.25 which is a novice hurdle that’s ridden over two miles. I’m going to take a chance on King Of Tara here for Jonjo O’Neil and Jonjo Jr. He showed ability in bumpers by placing in all three that he contested and his pedigree gives the impression that more progression should follow now he’s hurdling. He gets seven pounds off the favourite Tactical Affair here and I think he can go very close. King Of Tara – 9/4 (Win)
.00: Hazelton Mountford Insurance Brokers Handicap Hurdle: Next up it’s the 3.00 which is handicap hurdle action over a distance of two miles and five furlongs. I like the chances of Zonda here who’s another for Jonjo O’Neil and Jonjo Jr. He’s another who’s progressing nicely, his most recent run came at Wincanton last month where he finished second to Hermes Boy, finishing clear of the rest of the field. If he builds on that run here he should be going very close off what looks like a competitive mark. Zonda – 9/4 (Win) (NAP)
.10: Volcano Handicap Chase: My fourth selection of the afternoon come in the 4.10 which is a handicap chase over a marathon distance of three miles and five furlongs. I’m with Gerico Ville here for the team of Chris Gordon and Freddie Gordon who takes off five pounds. He was a neck second last time out at Plumpton over three miles and a furlong, keeping on at the finish and he’ll effectively contest this off five pounds lower with his rider’s claim. He’s also relatively unexposed compared to some of these and I think he could go very close. Gerico Ville – 5/1 (Each-Way)
.45: Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Hurdle: Moving onto the 4.45 now which is a handicap hurdle over three miles and two furlongs. I’m chancing Equinus here for Nigel & Sam Twiston-Davies. He was a very solid third last time out in a competitive handicap at Newbury behind smart hurdles in Emitom and Kyntara, and I think that’s possibly the best form on offer coming into this race. His yard are in solid form and if he turns up in the same kind of form here he’s got every chance of going very close. Equinus – 6/1 (Win)
.15: Olly Murphy Racing Open National Hunt Flat Race: The concluding race of the afternoon is the 5.15 which is a national hunt flat race contested over a distance of two miles. This looks to be a good opportunity for Valgrand for the team of Dan & Harry Skelton. He was second on rules debut in a competitive Cheltenham bumper back in October, and looks almost certain to build on that fine run here. He’s got plenty of potential moving forward and would be disappointing should he not go close here. Valgrand – 13/8 (Win)
