Feature Meeting: Ayr

3.05: Coral Best Odds Guaranteed Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase: My first selection of the week comes in the 3.05 from Ayr which is a handicap chase over two miles and half of a furlong. I like Ballycoose here for the team of Stuart Crawford and Daryl Jacob. He won well over a longer distance last time out on his chasing debut but has form over this trip as he’s a course and distance winner. He looks progressive and a five-pound rise in the weights may not be enough to stop him. Ballycoose – 11/4 (Win)

4.10: Coral “We’re Here For It” Novices’ Hurdle: Next up for me is the 4.10 which is a novice hurdle that’s to be ridden over a distance of two miles. I’m with Two Auld Pals here for Lucinda Russell and Derek Fox. He’s progressed with each start to date over hurdles since transferring from the flat, finishing second on each out but a much nearer neck second on his most recent run at Newcastle. If he progresses again from that run he could prove tough to beat in this. Two Auld Pals – 15/8 (Win)

4.45: Coral Mares’ Handicap Hurdle: My third and final pick of the day comes in the 4.45 which is a mares handicap hurdle over three miles and half of a furlong. I think this can go to Fiveafterfour who’s another runner for Lucinda Russell but this time the mount of Patrick Wadge who takes off three pounds. She was an impressive winner at this track on her handicap debut a couple of weeks ago, when winning by six lengths and I think she can go in again here. She’s won over three miles when in the pointing sphere so the new trip should suit. Fiveafterfour – 11/8 (Win) (NAP)
