Feature Meetings: Ayr, Newbury, Newton Abbot

.55 Newbury: Nick Robinson Memorial EBF Maiden Stakes: My first selection of the afternoon on Friday comes in the 1.55 at Newbury which is a Class 4 maiden over six furlongs. This looks like a good opportunity for I Maximus here for Richard Hughes and Oisin Murphy. He’s placed on both of his starts to date, including on debut over course and distance when third of nine back in July. If he comes on again from his latest outing when second at Kempton he should be bang there. I Maximus – 15/8 (Win) (NB)
.40 Newton Abbot: Devondale Electrical Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle: Next up it’s over to Newton Abbot for their 2.40 which is a Class 4 mares novice hurdle over two miles and a furlong. I’m very strong on Asian Star here for the team of Dan & Harry Skelton. She had solid bumper form to her name in the spring, finishing sixth at Cheltenham in April before finishing third of thirteen at Southwell. She looks a decent recruit to hurdling and could prove to be a cut above these. Asian Star – 5/6 (Win) (NAP)
.05 Ayr: British EBF Stallions Harry Rosebery Stakes: My third selection of the day comes up at Ayr in the 3.05 which is the Listed Rosebery Stakes over five furlongs. I’m going with an each-way angle here and siding with Kaadi for Karl Burke and Clifford Lee. She’s got the best form on offer in the race as she’s posted some very solid effort in good company as of late. Most recently, she finished second to Aesterius in Group 3 company in France and that rival has since come out and won the Flying Childers at Doncaster. If she runs up to that sort of level again she can have a big say here. Kaadi – 13/2 (Each-Way) (4 places – Sky Bet)
.20 Ayr: Slater Menswear Handicap: My fourth and final selection of the afternoon also comes at Ayr and in the 5.20 which is a Class 5 handicap over a mile and five furlongs. I’m siding with Annandale here for Jim Goldie and Paul Mulrennan. He’s now twenty-six pounds lower than his mark when winning a handicap at this meeting back in 2021, and showed signs of life in his latest outing when fourth at Musselburgh and two lengths behind the winner. He’s certainly got enough ability to be competitive at this sort of level and off his current mark. Annandale – 11/2 (4 places – Sky Bet)
