Welcome aboard to this Friday Preview where my focus will be on the opening day of the Tingle Creek Meeting which is set to take place at Sandown over the next couple of days. As ever, make sure to gamble responsibly if you are having a bet.
1.15: Best Odds On The Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase: My first selection of the afternoon comes in the 1.15 which is a handicap chase that’s contested over a distance of a mile and seven and a half furlongs. I like Kotmask here who’s a 7/2 chance for the Gary Moore yard, he won very impressively at Plumpton last time out and today’s rider Caolin Quinn will take three pounds off his eight-pound rise in the weights. He’s only five and there could well be more to come from him. Kotmask – 7/2 (Win)
1.50: Betfair Beacons Winter Novices’ Hurdle: Moving onto the 1.50 now which is the Grade 2 Winter Novices Hurdle over two miles and four furlongs. I’ve sided with Insurrection here who’s currently trading at 9/4 for the team of Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden. He was very impressive at Exeter last month on his hurdling debut, where he got the better of a well-regarded horse decisively, winning by the tune of eight and a half lengths. He could well be another exciting prospect for a yard that has won this race twice in the last four years. Insurrection – 9/4 (Win)
2.25: Betfair Esher Novices’ Chase: It’s more Grade 2 action at 2.25 this time over fences in the Esher Novices Chase over three miles. I think this can be another success for the Ditcheat team with Stay Away Fay who heads the betting for the Nicholls & Cobden combination. The Albert Bartlett winner from last season’s Cheltenham Festival made the perfect start to life over fences when winning at Exeter last month, staying on strongly in the closing stages, and if progressing further from that effort he could prove very tough to beat in this.
