Welcome aboard to this week’s Saturday Preview where it’s Coral Eclipse Day at Sandown and I’ve got five fancies throughout the afternoon to share with you all, including my opinion on the big one itself. So as ever, if you’re having a punt, make sure to do it in a responsible manner.
1.50 – CORAL CHARGE
EQUALITY – 13/2
“Bounced back to form in very impressive style at Windsor last month when defying top weight within handicap company, and if turning up in the same kind of form here he’s got to be considered as a huge threat to all of his rivals in this competitive listed event. He represents a yard that excels with sprinters and he’s clearly a smart one himself.”
2.25 – CORAL CHALLENGE
PEROTTO – 7/1
“Roger Varian trained five-year-old who’s the mount of Tom Marquand and he’s a course winner. He was last seen when posting a decent enough in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot and his mark continues to tumble to what looks like a very tempting one. If getting a bit of luck here I think he’s got a great chance of going close on his third start for the Varian yard. ”
3.00 – CORAL DISTAFF
MAGICAL SUNSET – 4/1
“Kodiac filly who I tipped up at Royal Ascot where she came home in-front of her group in the Sandringham Stakes, albeit on the wrong side of the track. I actually think that was a really good effort and contesting this off the same weight she’s got every chance of getting closer. Kevin Stott is on board and her current price of 4/1 is very fair in my opinion.”
3.40 – CORAL ECLIPSE
PADDINGTON – 5/6 (NAP)
“Aidan O’Brien trained three-year-old who has gone from strength to strength this season, winning all of his starts which recently culminated with a fine success in the St James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot where he decisively got the better of the Guineas winner Chaldean. He’s got the weight allowance here from his older rivals here, including his chief danger in Emily Upjohn. Ryan Moore is once again on board and I think he’s a seriously exciting horse for his all-conquering connections.”
4.15 – CLASS 2 HANDICAP
LORD PROTECTOR – 11/2
“Ralph Beckett runner who’s the mount of Rossa Ryan here and is a course and distance winner who went very close to adding to that course form last time out when going down by just a neck here last month to Paridas. He’s a pound better off with that rival on this occasion and has been nudged up just a couple of pounds for that fine effort, if turning up in the same kind of form he’s got to be considered as a very live challenger..”
