Tuesday 5th December 2023

Welcome aboard to this Midweek Preview where I’ll be turning my attention to Southwell as I have three selections throughout the afternoon there. As ever, make sure to gamble responsibly if you are punting.

12.15: Harry Cobden Race Previews At planetsportbet.com Handicap Chase: I’ll be kicking things off with the 12.15 which is a handicap chase that’s ridden over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I think that this can go to Sageburg County for Warren Greatrex and James Bowen who’s currently an 11/4 chance in the betting. He bolted up over course and distance by eight lengths last week, and despite a hike in the weights here, he could still have more to offer in a race where his rivals have sketchy form. Sageburg County – 11/4 (Win)

12.45: Racing Specials Every Day At PlanetSportBet EBF Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Chase: My second selection of the afternoon comes in the 12.45 which is a mares novice handicap chase also contested over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I think this can go to I Am Gonna Be for Lucinda Russell and Patrick Wadge who takes off three pounds. She was a winner over hurdles and posted a very solid effort on her chase debut at Ayr last month when finishing second of twelve, she should build on that run here, and if that’s the case she’s got to be considered as a live player. I Am Gonna Be – 7/2 (Win)

2.20: Get Emma’s Xmas Cracker’s At PlanetSportBet Maiden Hurdle: The third and final pick of the day for me comes in the 2.20 which is a maiden hurdle over two miles. I think that this can go to Smurfette who represents the powerhouse team of Dan and Harry Skelton. She made an encouraging debut over hurdles last time out at Warwick when finishing fourth and she didn’t get the clearest of runs on that occasion. That’s probably the best form on offer here and therefore she’s the one for me. Smurfette – 11/8 (Win)
