5.25 Southwell: Weekly £5 Free Bet With BetUK Handicap: The first of my three selections of the evening on Wednesday comes within the 5.25 at Southwell and this is a Class 5 handicap which is contested over a mile and six furlongs. I’ve sided with Star Legend here for the team of James Owen and Mason Paetel who takes off seven pounds. He’s gone very close on his last two outings, beaten only by a head at Chelmsford on his penultimate outing before finishing a head second over course and distance last time out. That last run came under today’s rider and he’ll contest this particular assignment off the same mark. He should be bang there once again if he’s in the same form. Star Legend – 11/4 (Win)
6.00 Southwell: Gamble Responsibly At BetUK Handicap: My second selection comes within the 6.00 and this is another Class 5 handicap that this time is ridden over a mile and three furlongs. I’m with Gozo in this particular affair for Ben Brookhouse and Clifford Lee. He comes into the race in good form following a break, finishing second on his last two starts, and was only narrowly denied over course and distance last time out. He’s yet to win on the flat and all-weather, however, he’ll contest this race off the same mark as his neck second last time out and he should have enough ability to get his head in front at this level. Gozo – 5/2 (Win)
6.30 Southwell: Weekly Free Bets With BetMGM Extra Handicap: My third and final selection comes within the 6.30 and this is Class 3 handicap action that’s contested over a mile. I’ve decided to take a chance on Rhythm Master here for Geoffrey Harker and David Allan. He returns here following a layoff since November, however, his last outing was a decent effort over course and distance where he finished sixth of twelve and three lengths behind the winner. He’s not won for a while now, however, as a result, has dropped down to a mark which is thirteen pounds below his last winning one. He’s got plenty of very useful form to his name at a high level and was once rated in the 100s. I think he can go close in a race of this nature. Rhythm Master – 20/1 (Each-Way)
