Welcome aboard to another Midweek Preview where on this occasion I have four selections to share with you all, from Market Rasen and Wincanton. As ever, please make sure to gamble responsibly.
1.30 Wincanton: Lenny Roberts Memorial Trophy Novices’ Hurdle: Kicking things off for my Wednesday picks is the 1.30 at Wincanton which is a novices hurdle that’s contested over two miles and five and a half furlongs. I think this revolves around Il Pino who currently heads the betting for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden, he’s a bumper winner who joined Ditcheat for the upcoming campaign, and he wouldn’t need to be special to win this as it’s a race lacking in any known quality form. Il Pino – 10/11 (Win)
2.15 Market Rasen: Pertemps Network Novices’ Handicap Chase: We head over to Market Rasen now for their 2.15 which is a novices handicap chase over two miles and five and a half furlongs. I’ve sided with The Same here for the team of Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen, he was a winning pointer and won on his first start under rules at this track in a maiden hurdle. It’s likely that chasing should bring out further improvement in him and he could be a bit better than his opening handicap mark. The Same – 9/4 (Win)
3.15 Wincanton: Evelyn Partners Handicap Chase: My third selection of the afternoon comes back at Wincanton in a handicap chase over two miles and four furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Balko Saint here for Jane Williams. He had a recent spin over hurdles which should’ve blown the cobwebs away and he arrives here on a dangerous mark back over fences, which is enhanced further by the rider’s seven-pound claim. I think he could go well at a decent price. Balko Saint – 15/2 (Each-Way)
3.50 Wincanton: Bruton Handicap Hurdle: I’m staying at Wincanton for my fourth and final selection which comes in the 3:50 which is a handicap hurdle over two miles and four furlongs. I’ve sided with Ventara here for Joe Tizzard who’s currently a 9/2 chance in the betting. He posted a very solid effort on his handicap debut at Chepstow last month when finishing second of twelve, and he’ll effectively get to run off a four-pound lower mark here with Freddie Gingell’s five-pound claim. If progressing from his most recent effort he’s a big player. Ventara – 6/1 (Each-Way)
