Welcome aboard to my preview for Ascot’s Friday card which is the opening day of their November Meeting. I’ll have four selections throughout the afternoon, so make sure to gamble responsibly if you are punting.
2.00: S.A.F.E. Handicap Chase: My first selection of the afternoon comes in the 2:00 which is a handicap chase over two miles and five furlongs. I’ve sided with Fidelio Vallis here for Harry Derham. He ran a solid race on his seasonal reappearance at Musselburgh earlier this month, when finishing second of five and I think he can build on that here. Alice Stevens will also take five pounds off his back which leaves him on a mark that looks well within his sights. Fidelio Vallis – 6/1 (Each-Way)
2.35: Garden For All Seasons Handicap Hurdle: Next up it’s the 2:35 which is a handicap hurdle that’s contested over a mile and seven and a half furlongs. I think that Gin Coco is very solid here for Harry Fry and Jonny Burke, he currently heads the betting and it’s extremely likely that he’ll build on his reappearance run at Ffos Las. The conditions look to be in his favour and if he’s anywhere near his best he could prove to be very tough to beat. Gin Coco – 11/10 (Win)
3.10: All Seasons Scaffolding Handicap Chase: My third pick of the day comes up at 3:10 and this is more handicap action this time over the larger obstacles. In this three-mile affair, I like Tea Clipper for Tom Lacey and Stan Sheppard, he’s another on the card that should improve for his first run of the season, which came at Chepstow last month when finishing second of seven and I think he looks to be on an attractive mark here as he’s been competitive off much higher in the past. 3.45: Not Forgotten Novices’ Handicap Hurdle: The race concluding my punts for the afternoon will be the 3:45 which is a handicap hurdle for novices over three miles and half of a furlong. I’ve gone with Seefin here for the Skelton’s who’s currently a 13/2 chance in the betting. He arrives here having won very impressively on his last two outings within handicap company, and he could well have more to offer off this current mark. Seefin – 13/2 (Each-Way)
