I’ve tried my hand with one selection on Wednesday, and this comes from Carlisle in the 3.12, a Class 3 maiden event contested over a distance of a mile and three furlongs. I’ve come down on ACT OF GENEROSITY here in the Godolphin silks for the team of Roger Varian and Ray Dawson. He’s a well-regarded sort by Sea The Stars who fetched 875,000gns as a yearling, and progressed from his first run to his second outing, where he finished third in a Newmarket novice in which the form has worked out markedly. Naturally, he should take another step forward coming into the third start of his career here, and the step up in distance on this occasion has every chance of unlocking more improvement. I think that he can have a big say. William Haggas’ Flagbearer is another who took a notable step forward on his second start last time out, and is a big player here under James Doyle, and you’d have to get a mention to Lord Byron for Faye Bramley, who’s a classy hurdler and has run twice before on the level when trained by Aidan O’Brien.
Selection: Act Of Generosity – (4/1) (Each-Way) (NAP)
Shortlist: Flagbearer (4/1), Lord Byron (10/3)
