3.05 Punchestown: Ladbrokes Play ‘1 – 2 – Free’ On Football Novice Handicap Hurdle: Kicking things off for me on Monday will be the 3.05 at Punchestown which is handicap hurdle action over two miles and three and a half furlongs. I like Jacob’s Ladder here for Gordon Elliott and Sam Ewing. He’s a point, bumper, and maiden hurdle winner and comes into the race having won his last outing which came in said maiden hurdle at Navan last month. He looks a progressive type for top connections and he could prove to be a cut above this sort of level. Jacob’s Ladder – 4/1 (Each-Way)
4.00 Carlisle: Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Chase: Next up for me will be the 4.00 at Carlisle and this is a Class 5 handicap chase that’s contested over three miles and half of a furlong. I’m siding with Breeze Of Wind here who represents the team of Stuart & Sam Coltherd. He won this race last year and should come into this contest a lot sharper for his effort at Wetherby back in December where he finished fourth of ten. He’ll have no issue with the trip or the ground and I think he’s got every chance of going close in this particular contest once again. Breeze Of Wind – 9/2 (Each-Way)
6.30 Wolverhampton: Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap: It’s over to Wolverhampton for my third selection and the 6.30 which is a Class 6 handicap on the all-weather over five furlongs. I’m strong on the chances of Level Up here for the team of David Evans and Rossa Ryan. He posted his best effort for a while a few days ago at Southwell when second of eight and just a length behind the winner. He’s been dropped a further couple of pounds for that effort and is now six pounds lower than his last winning mark, he’s also a course and distance and I think a big run is likely. Level Up – 3/1 (Win)
7.30 Wolverhampton: BetUK: It’s Where The UK Bets Handicap: My fourth and final selection of the day also comes from Wolverhampton and this comes within the 7.30 which is another Class 6 handicap, this time ridden over a mile and four furlongs. I’m with Lightningboltzoom here for Paul Attwater and Edward Greatrex. He showed significant improvement on his handicap debut at Southwell last month when finishing half of a length second of eleven. He stayed on well that day suggesting this extra furlong could bring out further improvement and he’s also only been nudged up a pound for that particular run. Lightningboltzoom – 11/2 (Each-Way)
