I’m trying my hand with three bets at Goodwood on Tuesday, and the first of the three comes within the 3.15, which is a Class 4 handicap over five furlongs. I like the chances of OVER SPICED here for Grace Harris, who has acquired the eye-catching services of Oisin Murphy. She’ll contest this particular contest off the same mark as when winning at Bath back in May, and she’s also able to race off a two-pound lower mark than when second over course and distance last time out. Things appear to be in line for her to post a bold bid if she gets a clear run, and I think she’s a big player. Nogo’s Dream could also feature for Richard Hannon; he’s quirky but has been running well as of late, and has Ryan Moore in the saddle.

3.15 Goodwood
My second bet comes in the 3.50, and we’re up in grade with a Class 2 handicap, this time contested over a distance of two miles. I’m strong on MANXMAN here for the team of Simon & Ed Crisford, who’s the mount of William Buick. He was third in this race last year, and just a length behind the winner, and that effort came off a two-pound higher mark. He returned to action at York last month when finishing fifth of sixteen behind Small Fry in a much more competitive contest, and these are considerably calmer waters. He should also naturally improve coming into his second start here, and I expect a big run. Most of his rivals have questionable form here, with Synergism being the likely big danger.

3.50 Goodwood
The third and final bet for me at Goodwood on Tuesday will come in the concluding race, which is the 5.00, a Class 4 handicap over six furlongs. I’m with OLD IS GOLD here for Andrew Balding, who’s another who’s set to be ridden by Oisin Murphy. He’s not quite lived up to the promise of his two-year-old days, but he has been running with credit since being gelded in higher grades than this, notably when finishing fifth of nineteen at York last time, staying on well after not getting a clear run. That effort came within Class 2 company, and he has to be of serious interest here in this company, stepping up to six furlongs. Marengo Storm is, however, a massive danger for Richard Hughes, who fits a similar profile.
