Posted a very encouraging effort on handicap debut at Chelmsford last time out, finishing second over five furlongs, keeping on in the closing stages. He should progress further here, and has to be in with a big shout off the same mark.
5.10: Aerial Silk – 11/4 (Win) (NAP)
Shown a solid level of form in two runs to date, finishing fourth at Haydock on debut before following that up with a half-length third at the same track last time out. He didn’t get a clear run that day, so arguably could’ve been closer, and he should be a big player here, judged on those two runs.
5.40: Hit Squad – 5/4 (Win)
Hasn’t been seen since finishing second here on racecourse debut back in April; however, that second came behind Cosmic Year, who developed into a smart sort throughout the summer. That’s solid form, and if he’s fit, he could prove to be a cut above these with Oisin Murphy on board.
6.10: Wild Dahlia – 11/8 (Win) (Treble)
Opened her account at the third attempt last time out at Chelmsford over a mile, yard are renowned for improving horses within handicaps, and she looks likely to take another big step forward on her handicap debut here.
6.40: Moutai – 5/1 (Each-Way)
Below-par at Newbury and Newmarket in his last two starts, however, he’s now three pounds below his mark when a neck second at Salisbury three starts ago. These look slightly calmer waters than his Newbury and Newmarket assignments, and could bounce back at this level.
7.10: Local Hero – 5/1 (Each-Way)
All three of his victories have come at this track, including two over today’s distance. Ran well here once more last time out, finishing a neck second of twelve in a competitive Class 2 handicap. Back down in grade here, and should give a bold showing once more.
7.40: Dramatic Star – 4/1 (Each-Way)
Likely didn’t enjoy the soft going at Newbury last time, and was progressive prior to that outing. Won his only start on the all-weather previously, and is only three pounds higher than when finishing a neck second in the Old Borough Cup at Haydock on his penultimate outing. Unexposed over today’s distance, and he looks a player for top connections.
8.10: Hunky Dory – 5/1 (Each-Way)
Eight-race maiden, however, ran well in his last two starts for Ed Walker, in particular, when finishing three-quarters of a length second of twelve at Doncaster on his penultimate start. Contests this particular affair off just two pounds higher than that run, and has every chance on stable debut for the Mick Appleby yard, who excel on the all-weather.
