Sunday 7th September
Sunday SELECTIONS
4.00 York: ZAIN BLUE – 9/1 (Each-Way) & DARK MOON RISING – 14/1 (Each-Way) (4 places)
The first of my selections on Sunday come within the 4.00 and this is a Class 3 handicap that’s contested over a mile and two and a half furlongs. Danger Bay will likely be tough to beat here, as he’s the unexposed improving type who’s currently a short-priced favourite.
I’m going to try and get him beat though with a couple at decent each-way prices, the first of which is Zain Blue for John Butler and Warren Fentiman, who takes off five pounds. He’s effectively three pounds below his last winning mark here, with that success coming at this track exactly twelve months ago. He also ran well here last time out at the Ebor Meeting when finishing fifth in a competitive Class 2 handicap, as he was only two and a half lengths behind the winner. He’s weighted to go well.
Similarly, I also like Dark Moon Rising here for Kevin Ryan and Jack Callan, who also takes off five pounds. He was a place behind Zain Blue in that same handicap last time out here, and he’ll effectively contest this off a seven-pound lower mark than his last winning one. This is also a slight ease in grade for both of these picks, and I’ll chance them both against the short-priced jolly.

5.00 York: EPIDAVROS – 7/1 (Each-Way)
I’ve also got a selection in the 5.00, which is a Class 3 fillies’ handicap that’s contested over a mile and a furlong. I’ve come down on Epidavros in this particular affair, and she represents the team of Katie Scott and Shay Farmer, who takes off seven pounds. She’s a consistent filly who’s knocked at the door several times among handicap company this time, with a string of placed efforts to her name. She’s also run well at Class 3 level on several occasions, and despite there being a few unexposed types at the top of the betting here who will likely progress past her, she should have every chance here with a very handy seven pounds coming off her back, making her look well-handicapped. Revelance, Seren Star, and Wonderbolt are all progressive-looking types who are big dangers.
