1.50 Goodwood: Goodwood Horseracing Club Membership Handicap: My first selection on Sunday comes within the 1.50 at Goodwood and this is a Class 3 handicap contested over a distance of six furlongs. I’m siding with Knebworth here for Richard Hughes, who’s the mount of Ethan Jones taking off five pounds. All of his victories to date have come on ground softer than good, including a heavy ground success on his most recent win at Newbury in October, so he should relish conditions here. He didn’t get much luck in the run last time here when third behind Chairmanoftheboard, and I think with a clearer passage he can make his presence felt here off a pound lower mark.
Knebworth – 5/1 (0.5pts Each-Way)
3.35 Goodwood: Weatherbys / British EBF Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes: My second selection comes within the 3.35 and this is the Listed Keyser Fillies’ Stakes over a mile and two furlongs. I like Janey Mackers here for David Menuisier and Harry Davies. She looked potentially exciting last term when bolting up in a Doncaster maiden on soft ground by five and a half lengths. She didn’t handle the fast surface on her seasonal reappearance in Listed company at Newbury, but she should be much more at home on today’s testing conditions. It would be disappointing should she not run a lot better here.
