As we enter a new month, I’ve decided to bring the points system back into play to make things a bit clearer and cleaner, and with that comes fewer selections and less through-the-card blogs. Remember, the points are based on the amount I’ll be punting personally, so don’t feel obliged to follow it and only bet what you can afford.
4.30 Nottingham: Sky Bet Extra Places Every Day Handicap: I’m starting this new phase with two selections on Sunday, and the first of which comes within the 4.30 at Nottingham, which is a Class 5 handicap that’s contested over a mile and six furlongs. I like The Crafty Mole here for David O’Meara and Danny Tudhope. He progressed from his seasonal reappearance to finish a head second at Haydock last week, and he is only a couple of pounds higher here on a mark, which is just a pound higher than his last winning one. He’s versatile ground-wise, and can make his presence felt again for a yard that has been among the winners over the last few days. The Crafty Mole – 7/2 (1pt Win)
4.45 Chelmsford: Sky Bet Extra Places Handicap: My second selection comes from Chelmsford and within the 4.45, which is a Class 4 handicap that’s contested over a mile and six furlongs. I’m with Road To Wembley in this for Richard Hughes and Finley Marsh. He posted his best effort for a while last time out at Doncaster, when finishing a head second of six and keeping on at the business end of things. He remains on the same mark here on the all-weather, which is a pound lower than his last winning one, and if he turns up in the same form, he should be considered a serious player for a yard operating at a 20% strike-rate in the last two weeks. Road To Wembley – 4/1 (1pt Win)
3pts – £15. 2pts – £10. 1pt – £5.
