MONDAY SELECTIONS
5.04 Windsor: MADE U BLUSH – 15/2 (Each-Way) (4 places)
The first of my three selections on Monday comes from Windsor, and within the 5.04, which is a Class 5 handicap that’s contested over a mile and two furlongs. I think that Made U Blush could go well here for Jonathan Portman and Rob Hornby. She’s a seven-race maiden; however, she ran well on her first start for this yard at Salisbury last month, finishing second of five and just a length and a quarter behind the winner. That was a Class 4 event, and she drops into Class 5 company here on the same mark. If she runs up to that level again, she should be on the premises.
5.29 Lingfield: ROYAL JET – 11/2 (Each-Way) (NAP)
My second selection comes from Lingfield and in the 5.29, which is a Class 6 handicap on the all-weather, and is contested over a mile. I’m fairly strong on the chances of Royal Jet here for Tony Carroll, who’s set to be ridden by Tyrese Cameron, who takes off seven pounds. He hasn’t won since his novice days; however, he’s posted back-to-back encouraging runs in his last two starts, placing in both, including when staying on at this course over seven furlongs just over a week ago. He remains on the same mark for this assignment, which is effectively seven pounds lower than that day, with the rider’s claim coming into play. I think he could go very close.
5.34 Windsor: WHEELS OF FIRE – 8/1 (Each-Way) (4 places)
The third and final selection for me comes within the 5.34 at Windsor, and this is a Class 4 handicap that’s ridden over six furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Wheels Of Fire here for Richard Hannon and Alec Voikhansky, who takes off three pounds. He was disappointing last time out at Newmarket when being sent off the 18/5 favourite in a fourteen runner affair; however, before that, he went close in his previous three outings, with one of those coming within a competitive handicap at Goodwood. He acts on soft ground, which he’s currently projected to get here, and he could prove to be well-handicapped here with the rider’s three-pound claim.
