2.45 Brighton: Download The Star Sports App Handicap
The first of my two selections on Wednesday comes from Brighton, and within the 2.45, which is a Class 6 handicap that’s contested over a distance of six furlongs. I like the Archie Watson trained Summertime Blues here, who’s set to be ridden by Hollie Doyle. He took a significant step forward last time out at Windsor on his handicap debut, when finishing second of ten and just a length and a quarter behind the winner. He had Mister Sandman behind him that day, who he reoppose here, and whilst there shouldn’t be much to seperate them here, I think the Watson three-year-old has more scope for improvement. He should naturally progress again following that encouraing Windsor effort, and he’s a big player off just a two pound higher mark.
SUMMERTIME BLUES – 9/4 (Win)
4.05 Pontefract: FBS Chartered Accountants Chaplins Club Handicap
My second selection comes from Pontefract and the 4.05, and this is a Class 5 handicap that’s ridden over five furlongs. I’ve come down on the side of Profiteer here for the team of Tim Easterby and David Allan, a combination who were succesful for one of my selections on Tuesday. This four-year-old has been running well in defeat for a while now, and he still remains on what looks to be a winnable mark, as he’s still a pound below his last winning one. He’s a dual course and distance winner, and ran well again here last time out when a length second over six furlongs. The drop back down to five furlongs could be what he’s after, and he should be bang on the premises once again.
