Sunday SELECTIONS

2.22 Southwell: WILD CLARY – 6/4 (Win) (NAP)

Eight-race maiden, however, he’s been knocking on the door lately, in particular, at Newbury last time out, where he finished second of ten and just a length and a half behind the winner. That was also a Class 4 event, and he should be going very close once again here.

2.50 Deauville: THE LION IN WINTER – 9/4 (Win) (NB)

He hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations of his two-year-old days just yet; however, he bounced back to form when finishing third of nine and a quarter of a length behind the winner in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat here last time out. Aidan O’Brien may just be getting him back to his best form now, and a bold showing could be on the cards here.

3.12 Pontefract: HALE END – 10/3 (Win)

He continues to fall down the weights, and he hasn’t been running badly as of late. Last time out at Redcar, he didn’t get any luck in the run and should’ve been a lot closer. He remains on the same mark here, which is five pounds below his last winning one, and I think he could well make amends for last time.

4.12: Pontefract: VENTURA EXPRESS – 4/1 (Win)

Four-time course and distance winner who will contest this off the same mark as his last success here, he was extremely close to adding another success over track and trip last time out when just being denied by a nose, and everything appears to be in order for another big run from him at this track.
