5.15 Brighton: starsports.bet Classified Stakes: The first of my two selections on Monday comes at Brighton and in the 5.15, a Class 6 classified event ridden over five and a half furlongs. I like Victors Dream here who represents the Marco Botti yard and is set to be ridden by Phoebe Edwards, who takes off seven pounds. He made a very encouraging return to the track over course and distance last month, finishing half of a length second of seven under today’s rider. If he turns up in the same form, he should have more to offer within this sort of grade, and that piece of form from last time out is some of the most solid on offer here. 7.00 Wetherby: Heineken 0.0 Fillies’ Handicap: My second selection comes from Wetherby and the 7.00 which is a Class 5 handicap that’s contested over a distance of seven furlongs. I’ve sided with One Of Our Own here for Rebecca Menzies and Kaiya Fraser who takes off three pounds. She’s been knocking on the door on her last two outings, beaten just two and a half lengths most recently at Redcar, where she was arguably unlucky not to get closer as she was denied a clear run and had to switch, whilst still running on. She’s been dropped a further pound for his troubles there, and if she gets a clearer passage here can go close off a pound lower than her last winning mark.
