4.35 Gowran Park: Paulstown Handicap: The first of three selections for me on Wednesday comes from Gowran Park and in the 4.35 which is handicap action over a mile. I like Royal Pippen here for Paul Flynn and Luke McAteer. It’s been a long time in between drinks for him when it comes to visiting the winner’s enclosure, however, he ran well in several handicaps last term and has gone well fresh in the past. He’s now eighteen pounds below his last winning mark and should be competitive at the minimum within 0-60 company, he also enjoys soft ground. Royal Pippen – 3/1 (Win)
7.00 Southwell: Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap: My second selection of the day comes from Southwell and in the 7.00 which is a Class 6 handicap that’s contested over six furlongs. I’m keeping the faith with Lequinto here for Tony Carroll and Rossa Ryan who I put up on his most recent start at Wolverhampton last month. Things didn’t work out for him on that occasion, he was slightly hampered and hung left and probably didn’t enjoy the step up to seven furlongs. He’s been dropped a further pound for that run, so he’ll now be running off a mark that’s eighteen pounds below his last winning one, and he could well bounce back in this particular assignment at six furlongs. Lequinto – 12/1 (Each-Way)
8.30 Southwell: Free Bets With BetUK Bet Club Handicap: I’m staying at Southwell for my third and final selection and this comes within the 8.30 which is another Class 6 handicap that this time is contested over two miles and half of a furlong. I’ve come down on Scylla in this particular affair for Tony Carroll and Marco Ghiani. She placed on her penultimate start at Wolverhampton off a pound higher mark and her solitary win to date came over this distance at Lingfield last summer. She’s joined a yard that has had an excellent winter on the all-weather and I think she can go well in a weak-looking contest. Scylla – 12/1 (Each-Way)
