Saturday Preview (36)

2.30 Gowran Park: Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden: Kicking things off on Monday for me will be the 2.30 at Gowran Park which is maiden action over a mile half of a furlong. I think that this is all about Light As Air for Aidan O’Brien and Wayne Lordon. He was a promising enough third on his racecourse debut earlier this month at Navan and looks almost certain to improve bundles for that run here. He’s still entered in the Group 1 at Doncaster next week and could have significant potential. Light As Air – 10/11 (Win) (NAP)

2.45 Pontefract: William Hill Committed To Top Prices Nursery Handicap: My second selection of the day on Monday comes in the 2.45 at Pontefract which is Class 5 nursery handicap over a mile. I like Larchill Lass here for Karl Burke and Sam Fielden who takes off seven pounds. She was second here on soft ground earlier this month over six furlongs and whilst this step up in trip is an unknown her sire was known to handle this distance. She also looks on a decent mark with the rider’s claim coming into consideration and I think she can go well. Larchill Lass – 10/3 (Win)

3.55 Plumpton: Nick Embiricos Memorial Handicap Chase: It’s over to Plumpton for selection number three and the 3.55 which is a Class 3 handicap chase over two miles and three and a half furlongs. I’ve come down on Menaggio in this for Alan King and Tom Cannon. He was half-of-a-length second on his handicap debut over hurdles when last seen back in May and looks considerably the less exposed of these. The yard have been in the winners recently and if taking to the larger obstacles he can have a big say. Menaggio – 7/2 (Win)

4.10 Bath: Dragonbet – Real Bookmakers Handicap: Next up for me will be the 4.10 at Bath which is a Class 5 handicap over five and a half furlongs. I’m with Hierarchy in this for the combination of Trevor Whelan and Jamie Osbourne. He’s been knocking on the door as of late with three placed efforts in his last three outings and his time should surely be due soon. The conditions shouldn’t be too much of a concern for him and he should be getting his head in front off this mark sooner rather than later. Hierarchy – 6/1 (Each-Way)

4.25 Plumpton: Bet Goodwin Handicap Hurdle: My fifth and final selection comes back at Plumpton and in the 4.25 which is a Class 4 handicap hurdle over two miles. I’m strong on the chances of Davidoc in this particular affair for Ben Pauling and Ben Jones. He was second of eleven on his handicap debut when last seen back in May and should surely be going close here off just a one-pound higher mark. He also bolted up by eight lengths in a maiden on his penultimate outing and could prove a useful sort for connections. Davidoc – 13/8 (Win) (NB)
