4.25 Kempton: Unibet Support Safer Gambling Handicap: The first of three picks for me at Kempton on Wednesday evening comes within the 4.25, a Class 6 handicap over six furlongs. I’m going with Roman Emperor here who represents the team of John Ryan and Laura Pearson. He placed in Class 2 company last winter off a mark of 81 which suggests he’s very attractively handicapped for this particular assignment. However, he’s dropped down the weights as a result of some poor form, but he was only four and three-quarters of a length behind the winner when last seen at Lingfield back in November. I think he’s got more than enough ability to feature in a race of this nature off his current mark. Roman Emperor – 15/2 (Each-Way)
6.00 Kempton: Unibet More Extra Place Races Handicap: My second selection of the evening comes within the 6.00 and this is another Class 6 handicap which is this time contested over seven furlongs. I’ve sided with Penelope Valentine here for Alice Haynes and Dougie Costello. She’s got form figures of 223 within handicap company with each start coming over today’s distance. Most recently, she finished a length and a half behind the winner at Newcastle last month and she hung in the closing stages that day. This course could suit her more than Newcastle; she has previously run well here, and I think she looks like a rock-solid each-way play. Penelope Valentine – 6/1 (Each-Way)
8.30 Kempton: Free Bet With Unibet’s Betbuilder Rebound Handicap: My third and final selection comes within the 8.30 and this is more Class 6 handicap action, this time over a further distance of a mile and four furlongs. I’ve come down on Sydney Whistler here for Stanley Moore and Warren Fentiman who takes off seven pounds. He showed a significant amount of improvement on his most recent outing which was his handicap debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month, finished second behind a hot favourite. He was well supported himself that day and was considerably up in trip, he kept on at the business end on that occasion and off the same mark here with his rider’s seven-pound claim coming off his back he can have a serious say. Sydney Whistler – 9/2 (Each-Way)
