Thursday Tips. (20/02/25)

Thursday 20th February 2025

6.30 Newcastle: Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap: My first selection on Thursday comes within the 6.30 at Newcastle and this is a Class 3 handicap that’s contested over five furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Mon Na Slieve here who represents the Kevin Ryan yard and is the mount of Oisin McSweeney who takes off three pounds. He’s not won since his debut success in a York novice event, however, he’s run will promise in several decent contests in the last year and wasn’t disgraced when fourth of seven at Southwell last time out. He’s edging down the weights and with a further three pounds coming off his back here I think he looks attractively handicapped. Mon Na Slieve – 9/1 (Each-Way)

7.00 Newcastle: Win £1M With BetMGM’s Golden Goals Handicap: Next up for me will be the 7.00 and this is a Class 6 handicap that’s contested over a mile. I like the chances of Urban Dandy here for the team of Tony Coyle & Kaine Wood and the mount of Dougie Costello. He ran a fine race over course and distance last time out when finishing a head second of ten in a Classified event, and he’s now seven pounds below his last winning mark. He’ll probably need to step up a bit on that last run if he is to win here but he looks well-handicapped and I’d be disappointed if he wasn’t at least on the premises at the business end of things. Urban Dandy – 11/2 (Each-Way)

8.00 Newcastle: Weekly £5 Free Bet With BetUK Handicap: My third and final selection of the evening comes within the 8.00 and this is more Class 6 handicap action, this time over six furlongs. I’ve come down on Hurstwood here who’s currently trading at a best price of 9/1 for Peter Niven and Warren Fentiman who takes off seven pounds. He’s run well on his last couple of outings at this track, finishing half of a length second on his penultimate outing before finishing just a length and a half behind the winner when fifth last time. He looks to be on a very manageable mark here with the added bonus of a talented seven-pound claimer on his back and if he gets some luck in the run he’s got every chance of posting a bold bid. Hurstwood – 9/1 (Each-Way)
