1.38 Southwell: Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Handicap: I’ve got two selections on Wednesday, both coming from Southwell and the first of which comes within the 1.38 which is a Class 4 handicap over seven furlongs. I like Our Havana here for the team of Richard Fahey and Oisin Orr. He won a handicap on the turf at Newmarket last April and posted a fine effort on his all-weather debut at Newcastle last month when finishing half of a length second of eleven behind King’s School. He’ll contest this off just a pound higher and if he turns up in the same form, or even progresses further, I think he’s got to be considered as a live player. Our Havana – 6/1 (Each-Way)
2.40 Southwell: Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Classified Stakes: My second selection comes in the 2.40 which is a Class 6 classified event that’s also contested over seven furlongs. I’m with Frightening here for Jack Jones and Ryan Kavanagh who takes off seven pounds. He’s not been too far away as of late and was most recently seen finishing three and three-quarters of a length behind the in-form Autumn Angel at Wolverhampton a couple of weeks ago. He stayed on that day giving the impression that this step back up to seven could suit, and he’s effectively nine pounds lower taking his rider’s claim into consideration.
