1.10 Haydock: TrustATrader Apply Today Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase: My first selection of the day on Wednesday comes within the 1.10 at Haydock which is a Class 3 novices handicap chase over two miles and five and a half furlongs. I’m strong on White Rhino here for Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero, who’s the mount of Henry Brooke. He was a useful hurdler and won well on his first start over fences at Ayr last month, getting the better of Donny Boy by two lengths. He’s been put up five pounds for that success here, however, if he’s to progress again that may not be enough to stop him. White Rhino – 13/8 (Win) (NAP)
1.40 Haydock: Watch On Racing TV Maiden Hurdle: Next up for me is the 1.40 at Haydock which is Class 4 maiden hurdle action over three miles and half of a furlong. I’m with Carrig Kate here for the same connections as my previous selection in Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero and also to be ridden by Henry Broke. I put her up on her most recent outing at Bangor last month when she looked like the winner, going clear before being run down after a mistake at the last. I think she sets the standard here on the back of that run and if she stays clear of any costly mistakes she can make amends here. Carrig Kate – 11/4 (Win)
3.10 Ludlow: Mark Steady Edwards Memorial Novices’ Handicap Chase: It’s over to Ludlow for my third selection and the 3.10 which is a Class 4 novice handicap chase over three miles. I think that this can go to Phantom Getaway who represents the team of Kim Bailey and Jonny Burke. He bounced back to form when finishing second at Fontwell on his seasonal reappearance last month following wind surgery, and still remains on what looks like a handy mark having only been nudged up a pound for that effort. The yards in solid form and I think they have another very live contender here. Phantom Getaway – 7/4 (Win) (NB)
3.42 Ludlow: Marsh Commercial Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race: My fourth and final selection of the day is the 3.42 at Ludlow, a Class 4 bumper ridden over two miles. I like the chances of Service Minimum in this for Dan Skelton and Tristan Durrell who takes off three pounds. She posted a very encouraging effort on her racecourse debut at Uttoxeter back in October when finishing third of thirteen, with the front three pulling clear. She showed signs of inexperience on that occasion so should show natural progression for this particular assignment. I think she’s a big player. Service Minimum – 3/1 (Win)
