12.25 Bangor-on-Dee: Paul Ferguson Jumpers To Follow Handicap Chase: I’m focusing solely on Bangor on Wednesday and getting us underway there will be the 12.25 which is a Class 3 handicap chase over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I’m with Jagwar here for Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero, who’s the mount of Jonjo O’Neil Jr. He’s a horse who has always been well-regarded and whilst hasn’t always put his best foot forward he did win on his chase debut last month at Wetherby. That was also his seasonal reappearance and he gave the impression that there should be a lot more to come, I think he’s got every chance of following up here. Jagwar – 15/8 (Win) (NB)
12.55 Bangor-on-Dee: Yorton Mares’ Novices’ Chase: Next up it’s the 12.55 which is a Listed Mares Novice Chase that’s ridden over two miles and a furlong and a half. I’ve gone with Casa No Mento in this for Nigel & Sam Twiston-Davies. She didn’t show up on seasonal reappearance when pulled up in a listed hurdle at Kempton last month, but given how consistent she was last term I think she can be forgiven one bad run on her first outing of the campaign. She was a listed winner at Punchestown on her final start of last term and if transferring that ability over fences she could prove a useful prospect. Casa No Mento – 10/3 (Win)
1.55 Bangor-on-Dee: Wynnstay EBF Junior “National Hunt” Hurdle: The 1.55 is where I turn my attention to next and this is a Class 4 Junior Hurdle over two miles and half of a furlong. I’ve taken a chance on Adaay Forever in this for the team of Alan King and Tom Cannon. He was brought down on debut at Wetherby earlier this month in a race that was eventually won by Jack The Boss, who he’ll reoppose here. That rival will have to give seven pounds away to the selection on this occasion, and given that the Alan King was well-fancied last time he can put that to good use in this assignment. 2.25 Bangor-on-Dee: Field & Falcon Novices’ Hurdle: My fourth selection of the afternoon comes within the 2.25 which is a Class 4 novice hurdle that’s also contested over two miles and half of a furlong. I like Junker d’Allier here for the combination of Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen. He won impressively by just shy of five lengths on his hurdling debut at Carlisle last month and looks good value to go well under his penalty here. Both the yard and the jockey are currently in fine form and there’s nothing to suggest that this five-year-old won’t put in another bold effort. Junker d’Allier – 10/11 (Win) (NAP)
3.00 Bangor-on-Dee: Field & Falcon Novices’ Hurdle: The 3.00 is another Class 4 novice hurdle over two miles and half of a furlong as it’s the second division of our previous race. In this particular affair, I like the chances of Gentleman Bill for Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero who’s the mount of Henry Brooke. He finished third of ten on his hurdling debut at Carlisle last month and fourteen and a half lengths behind the winner. That was slightly underwhelming given he went off at 2/1, however, it’s almost certain that he’ll come on for that run here and the yard are in good form. It would be disappointing should he not be significantly closer on this occasion. Gentleman Bill – 11/2 (Each-Way)
4.05 Bangor-on-Dee: Overton Novices’ Hurdle: Signing me off for the afternoon at Bangor will be the 4.05 which is another Class 4 novice hurdle which this time is ridden over a distance of two miles and seven furlongs. I’ve come down on Carrig Kate here who’s another for Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero, and another ride for Henry Brooke. She’s a point winner who was second of seven on her hurdling debut at Stratford last month which was a very encouraging effort. Like her stablemate who I put up in our previous race she should almost certainly come on for that run here, and a sounder surface may benefit her on this occasion, as all of her previous efforts have come on testing ground.
