Saturday Preview (10)

12.20 Huntingdon: Clive Graham Memorial Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle: We get things underway on Tuesday with the 12.20 at Huntingdon which is a Class 5 handicap hurdle over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Poker Master here for Phillip McBride and Tom Buckley. He’s not tasted success for a while now, however, as a result, he is seven pounds lower than his last winning mark which came over course and distance. He recently had a spin over fences at Wincanton last month which should’ve blown the cobwebs away, and he should be at least competitive here. Poker Master – 9/2 (Win)

1.35 Lingfield: BetMGM: It’s Showtime Handicap Chase: My second selection comes from Lingfield and the 1.35 which is a Class 4 handicap chase over two miles and four furlongs. I’ve come down on Belargus here for the team of Nick Gifford and James Davies. He was well-beaten on seasonal reappearance at Stratford last month, however, that effort came on heavy ground and if you go back to his penultimate start in April he finished second of ten on good ground at Huntingdon, which he’ll likely get here. He’s now fifteen pounds lower than his last winning mark and should be featuring in this sort of grade. Belargus – 14/1 (Each-Way) (4 place firms)

1.50 Hereford: Silky Sykes Living The Retirement Dream Handicap Chase: It’s over to Hereford for selection number three and the 1.50 which is a Class 5 handicap chase over three miles and a furlongs. I’m with Mistymal in this for Tim Vaughan and Alan Johns. He opened his account over fences at the first time of asking over course and distance last month and was an impressive winner that day by three and a quarter lengths, keeping on well. He’s only four pounds for that success and has every chance to make his presence felt within open company. Mistymal – 5/2 (Win) (NAP)

3.35 Hereford: Spa Motors Hereford Handicap Hurdle: My fourth and final selection comes from Hereford and their 3.35 which is a Class 5 handicap hurdle that’s ridden over a distance of two miles. I’m with Jazz King in this particular affair for Alastair Ralph and Murray Dodd who takes off seven pounds. He was a winner over fences for Sam Thomas and looks on a nice mark here over the smaller obstacles, he also has the added bonus of another seven pounds coming off his back and it would be disappointing should he not be going well in this sort of grade. Jazz King – 7/2 (Win) (NB)
