1.00 Carlisle: Start Your RacingTV Free Trial Now Maiden Hurdle: Kicking things off for my Monday selections will be the 1.00 at Carlisle which is a Class 4 maiden hurdle over two miles and a furlong. I like We’re Red And Blue in this for Jonjo O’Neil and Jonjo Jr. He was a bumper winner and posted a very encouraging effort on his second start over hurdles when a length and a half second to the well-regarded Wade Out at Uttoxeter last month. If he builds on that run here I think that’s the best form currently on offer within the race. We’re Red And Blue – 2/1 (Win)
1.15 Kempton: racingtv.com Novices’ Handicap Chase: Next up for me is the 1.15 at Kempton which is a Class 4 novice handicap chase over two miles and four and a half furlongs. I like the chances of Montecam in this for the team of Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville. He was a winner over hurdles and fell at the Punchestown Festival when last seen back in May. I think he’s got the most potential in the line-up here which is reflected in the ratings, which see him top by a considerable margin. It would be disappointing should he not go well in this. Montecam – 2/1 (Win)
1.30 Carlisle: Racing TV Novices’ Handicap Hurdle: My third selection of the day comes back at Carlisle and in the 1.30 which is a Class 5 handicap hurdle over two miles and four furlongs. I’m taking a chance on Get A Superstar in this for Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole who’s the mount of Charlie Hammond. He’s finished fourth on his last four outings, however, was considerably closer to the winner last time out at Sedgefield when a length and three-quarters behind. He’s been dropped a further pound for that run here and if he turns up in the same form can run a big race. Get A Superstar – 13/2 (Each-Way)
2.15 Kempton: Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle: Signing me off for the afternoon will be the 2.15 at Kempton which is a Class 2 handicap hurdle over two miles and five furlongs and is a Pertemps qualifier. I’m strong on Dargiannini here for Harry Derham and Paul O’Brien. He dismantled the field in this race last year when hacking up by eleven lengths from the front, and is only four pounds higher this time around. He had a spin around Uttoxeter last month to blow away the cobwebs, and it looks like he should be primed for another stab at this affair. Dargiannini – 15/8 (Win) (NAP)
