2.47 Ascot: Colliers Handicap: I’m focusing on Ascot on Friday and my first selection of the afternoon comes in the 2.47 which is a Class 3 handicap over two miles. I’m taking a chance on Wind Your Neck In here for David Evans and Richard Kingscote. He seems to save his best form for testing ground, which he’ll almost certainly encounter here. He’s a pound higher in the weights than when he finished second at Chester in June on soft ground, and if some of these struggle in the conditions he could well take advantage. Wind Your Neck In – 7/1 (Each-Way)
3.22 Ascot: BetmMGM Novice Stakes: Next up is the 3.22 which is a Class 3 novice event that’s ridden over a mile and four furlongs. I’m with Kansas Du Berlais here for the team of Adam West and Luke Morris. He was useful over hurdles for Gary Moore and could well bag some prize money on the flat. He’s won on heavy ground over the obstacles and this doesn’t look like the strongest of novice events for his first attempt on the level since he was trained in France. I think he’ll go out from the front and could prove tough to peg back. Kansas Du Berlais – 12/1 (Each-Way)
3.57 Ascot: BetMGM Noel Murless Stakes: My third selection of the afternoon comes in the feature which is the Listed Murless Stakes that’s ridden over a mile and six furlongs. I like Go Daddy in this for William Muir & Chris Grassick who’s the mount of Lewis Edmunds. He’s placed in two Group 3s in his last two outings so probably sets the standard here, and he’s also got form on soft ground having won a handicap on it at Nottingham last season. I think he’s very solid and can grab his first win of the campaign here after several solid efforts. Go Daddy – 15/8 (Win) (NAP)
4.30 Ascot: BetMGM Handicap: Concluding my selections for the day will be the 4.30 which is a Class 2 handicap over a distance of six furlongs. I’ve actually had two in this which is a rarity with a field of this size, however, I couldn’t really split them. My first pick comes in the form of Rohaan for David Evans and Tom Queally. He’s a course specialist and won this race last year off an eight-pound higher mark, he’s also won on heavy ground and looks very solid. My other selection is Baradar for George Boughey and Rossa Ryan, he also looks well-handicapped and has form on testing ground, he posted his best effort for a while last time out at Ripon when fourth of eleven and just a length and a half behind the winner. Rohaan 3/1 (Win) (NB) & Baradar – 11/2 (Each-Way)
