Lincoln Handicap Day
Feature Meetings: Doncaster & Newbury
2.10 Newbury: Bet In-Play On Racing With BetVictor Novices’ Handicap Hurdle: My first pick of the day on Saturday comes in the 2.10 at Newbury which is a novices handicap hurdle over two miles and three furlongs. I like Spirits Bay here for the team of Nigel Twiston-Davies and Jordan Nailor. He arrives here in great form having won his last two starts, with his most recent success success coming at Exeter earlier this month when getting the better of the useful Donnacha by six and a half lengths. He looks like a highly progressive sort and I think he can go very well again here. Spirits Bay – 5/1 (Each-Way)
2.25 Doncaster: William Hill Epic Boost Spring Mile Handicap: Next up for me is the 2.25 at Doncaster which is a handicap contested over a mile. I’ve sided with Thunder Roar here who represents Tony Coyle & Kaine Wood and is the mount of Jamie Spencer. He won on heavy ground here on his final outing of last season and returned to the track with a very solid third-placed effort at Southwell earlier this month. This is a step up in grade for him but he’ll handle the ground and will be race-fit having had that recent outing on the all-weather. Thunder Roar – 17/2 (Each-Way)
3.00 Doncaster: William Hill Cammidge Trophy Stakes: We move onto the 3.00 now which is a listed event that’s ridden over six furlongs. I like Baradar here for George Boughey and David Egan who currently heads the betting at 11/4. He likes soft ground and he also likes this course, winning here in September as well as finishing third in the Lincoln last year. I think he’s well worth another crack at this sort of level having posted several big runs within very competitive handicaps in previous seasons, he’s also gone well fresh previously. Baradar – 11/4 (Win) (NAP)
3.35 Doncaster: William Hill Lincoln: Signing me off for the afternoon will be the feature at Doncaster which is the Lincoln Handicap, a Heritage Handicap over a mile. I’m siding with the winner of the Irish Lincoln here in Chazzesmee for the team of Fozzy Stack and Joey Sheridan. He won the Irish equivalent on just Monday and bids to make a historic double here and I think he’s got a very solid chance of doing so. He travelled powerfully the other day and often shows that he relishes testing ground. He’s highly progressive and he might I think he could be tried in graded races further down the line. Chazzesmee – 5/1 (Each-Way)
