3.35: Full Circle Series At Punchestown Festival Handicap Hurdle: Kicking things off for me on Thursday will be the 3.35 which is a handicap hurdle over two miles and five and a half furlongs. I think that this is all about Immortal Flame for Tom Lacey and Stan Sheppard. He’s had a bit of a rest from his last outing which came at Ascot in December when claiming a competitive handicap, and he also won his penultimate outing which came at Doncaster back in November. Despite an increasing mark, he still looks progressive and the rest of the form on offer here is questionable. Immortal Flame – 7/4 (Win) (NAP)
4.10: Bromfield Sand And Gravel Handicap Chase: Next up for me is the 4.10 which is handicap chase action over a distance of two miles. I’m chancing the old boy Moonlighter here who’s currently a 6/1 chance for Kim Bailey and Ciaran Gethings. I’m firmly in cliff-horse territory here with this one, however, he’s now rated considerably lower than his last winning mark and if he’s going to win again it’ll be a race of this nature off this kind of mark. He’s in the last chance saloon for me but if he gets a clear round he could well break his losing streak. Moonlighter – 6/1 (Each-Way)
4.45: Mark Wiggin Estate Agents Mares’ Handicap Hurdle: My third and final selection of the afternoon comes in the 4.45 which is a mare’s handicap hurdle over two miles. I like Queshi Bridge here for the team of Alastair Ralph and Jonathan Burke. She made a very encouraging start to life for this yard since being recruited from Ireland, finishing second of thirteen at Ludlow last month with the front free pulling well clear. I think she’ll build on that here and if that’s the case she’s got to be considered as a major player. Queshi Bridge – 11/4 (Win)
