Welcome aboard to this Midweek Preview where I’ll be focusing on Exeter as I have three selections throughout the afternoon there to share with you all. As ever, make sure to gamble responsibly if you are punting.
1.55: EBF Mares’ Novices’ Chase: My first pick of the day comes in the 1.55 which is a mares novice chase over two miles and one and a half furlongs. This can go to Mayhem Mya for Chris Honour and Bryan Carver who has extremely strong claims coming into the race. Her most recent effort came at this track when second in listed company to the smart Arclight, and a repeat of that level of form should be enough for her to go very close in this. Mayhem Mya – 4/5 (Win)
2.25: Naf Metazone Handicap Hurdle: Next up it’s the 2:25 which is a handicap hurdle that’s contested over two miles and two and a half furlongs. I’m siding with Imperial Bede here who’s currently a 9/2 chance in the betting for the team of Jonjo O’Neil and Jonjo Jr. He posted a satisfactory effort on his seasonal reappearance when third of seven at Huntingdon last month, and it would be disappointing should he not build on that here. I believe he’s a horse who’s highly regarded and could still have significant potential. Imperial Bede – 9/2 (Win)
2.55: Join Us On New Year’s Day At Exeter Handicap Chase: The third selection of the afternoon comes in the 2.55 which is a handicap chase over three miles. I think that this could well be another success for Enjoy Your Life for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch. He won impressively last time out over course and distance when getting up by over three lengths, and a seven-pound rise in the weights might not be enough to stop him in a race where most of his rivals are coming into the contest with very questionable form. Enjoy Your Life – 9/4 (Win)
