Welcome aboard to this Midweek Preview which comes from Ayr where we have four selections to share with you all throughout the afternoon there on the first day of their Gold Cup meeting, so, as ever, if you are punting make sure to do so in a responsible manner.
2.25: Brandinghub For Signs & Graphics Handicap: My first pick of the day at Ayr comes in the 2:25 which is an extremely competitive handicap over five furlongs. I’ve taken a chance on Triple Jaye at a big price here who doesn’t arrive here in the best of form but is a course and distance winner who has dropped down to a very tempting to mark, if handling the ground he could well at a big price. Triple Jaye – 16/1 (Each-Way)
3.00: Daily Kilkerran Handicap: The second pick of the day comes in the 3:00 which is a higher grade of handicap this time over a mile and two furlongs. I’m siding with the old boy here in Euchen Glen, he’s another course and distance winner who looks on a decent mark, and ran a fantastic race in the Ebor at York on his penultimate outing, when finishing fourth off today’s mark. A repeat of that run would see him be very competitive. Euchen Glen – 6/1 (Each-Way)
3.35: British Stallion Studs Scottish Premier Series EBF Fillies’ Handicap: It’s more handicap action at 3.35 and a fillies event over a mile and two furlongs. I like the chances of Alpha Female here for Ed de Giles and Joe Fanning. She went close at Kempton just a week ago and is due to go up four pounds in the weights for that run, it’s likely she could be well in here and she also receives a chunk of weight off her rivals. If progressing again she’s a big player. Alpha Female – 11/4 (Win)
4.10: Simply Asset Finance Scottish Handicap: My concluding pick of the day comes in the 4:10 which is a Class 5 handicap over the mile. I’m going to give the nod to Hortzadar here who’s currently trading at 14/1 for the team of David O’Meara and Jason Hart. He’s not won for a while, however, as a result of that he’s dropped down to a very low mark compared to what he’s been competing off in previous years. He’s won off a lot higher in the past, and whilst he is hard to predict two of his better runs have come at this track this season and he won’t mind soft going. Hortzadar – 14/1 (Each-Way)
