Monday 11th May 2026

The first of four selections for me from Windsor on Monday comes within the 5.42, and this is a Class 4 novice event over a mile and two furlongs. I was really impressed with FIGHTER’S SPIRIT on his racecourse debut at Beverley last month. He got the better of the horse I’d tipped up in that race in Cape Fear, who had prior experience and was very well-supported just before the off. Saeed bin Suroor’s three-year-old overcame experience on that occasion and stayed on strongly in the straight to win by half of a length. He’s by Masar and gave the impression that there should be a lot more to come from him; he should naturally take a step forward coming into his second start here, and that makes him a very significant player. Oisin Orr was on board for his debut success last time out, and he’s in the saddle once more for this assignment.

My second selection of the afternoon comes in the next race, which is the 6.17, a Class 3 handicap that’s contested over a distance of six furlongs. This is a competitive-looking affair; however, I’ve come down on DILIGENTLY for Clive Cox, who’s the mount of Saffie Osborne on this occasion. He ran a highly encouraing race on his seasonal reappearance at Newmarket in April, finishing fourth of thirteen behind the highly progressive Double Rush within Class 2 company. He was less effective at Goodwood last time out; however, he’s back down to his last winning mark for this assignment, and that success came over course and distance back in August. Course form can count for a lot around here, and if he returns to the form of his Newmarket run, that could be enough for him to win this.

Moving on to my third selection, and this is my best bet of the evening, taking place in the 6.47, which is a Class 5 novice event over six furlongs. I’m strong on the chances of SARGENT DENNIS here for the team of Jack Channon and Tom Marquand. The Channon outfit is currently in strong form, and they look to have another very live chance here with this three-year-old son of Invincible Army. He’s shown promise in each of his three starts to date, notably in his last couple of outings, where he’s filled the second-place position at both Wolverhampton and Kempton. He should be winning races sooner rather than later, and the turf could well bring out further improvement. He should be bang there at the business end of things for his in-form yard.

The fourth and final selection of the evening for me at Windsor comes in the 7.17, and we have a Class 5 handicap here over five furlongs. This is another competitive contest for the grade, with not much separating the field in the betting. I like the chances of the Tony Carroll runner though here, CORRESPONDENCE, who’s another who’s set to be ridden by Tom Marquand. The Carroll yard is a prolific outfit at this sort of level, and this four-year-old has been running himself into form as of late, whilst still edging down the weights. He was only a length and a quarter behind Silver Wraith at Bath last time out when finishing third, and the handicapper has lowered him a further pound for his efforts there. He’s yet to win after nine starts; however, his most recent efforts suggest that an elusive victory could be forthcoming.
