Monday 2nd March 2026
Following a spell of the site doing full-card previews, I’m back with my four selections a day. Kicking off on Monday with the 4.25 at Leopardstown, which is a Listed Handicap Chase that’s contested over two miles and five and a half furlongs. This is competitive, with sixteen runners currently set to go to post. The one I’ve come down on, though, is THE WALLPARK for Gordon Elliott, who’s the mount of Mark Walsh. He was a very classy hurdler, and whilst he initially struggled over the larger obstacles this term, he posted his best effort to date at Navan last time out when finishing second in Grade 2 company behind Oscars Brother. He’ll need to sharpen his jumping up further here; however, he should almost certainly have more to offer in this sphere, and could prove ahead of his current handicap mark of 142.
The Wallpark (5/1) (E/W) (NB) – 4.25 Leopardstown.
The second selection of the afternoon comes from Kempton, and the 4.37, which is a decent Class 3 handicap over a mile and four furlongs. The unexposed Spanish Voice will be a warm order here at the top of the betting, and has the potential to be better than this level. However, I’ve gone with the much more battle-hardened DRAMATIC STAR for William Haggas and Cieren Fallon. Notably, he drops into Class 3 company for the first time here, and was last seen when finishing a very close-up second at Lingfield in Class 2 company in November, going down by just a shoulder. He’s just a couple of pounds higher for this particular assignment, and whilst I wouldn’t generally back a 4/1 shot each-way, I think that’s a cracking price here. I’d have him more around the 5/2 mark. The Haggas yard probably isn’t firing on all cylinders just yet, given they’ve only had the one runner in the last few weeks; however, this is a solid yardstick, and I still believe he can give his running here.
Dramatic Star (4/1) (E/W) – 4.37 Kempton.
It’s back over to Leopardstown for my third selection of the day, and this comes within the 4.55, which is the Dublin National Handicap Chase over three miles and four and a half furlongs. As expected, this is another extremely competitive affair. I think that Padraig Roche could well have a very live challenger, though in the form of SO THEY TELL ME, who’s the mount of three-pound claimer Aidan Kelly. He was a winning hurdler; however, struggled in his first few starts over fences, albeit in tough events behind the likes of Final Demand and Kaid d’Authie. Handicaps had always been the endgame with him, and he posted his best effort to date over fences last time out, finishing third in a competitive seventeen-runner affair at Navan last month. That run came over three miles on heavy ground, and he was keeping to his task in the closing stages, giving the impression that this marathon trip could be right up his street. He’s been raised just a pound for that run, and I believe he could have a big say in this, given a clear round.
So They Tell Me (11/2) (E/W) (4 places) – 4.55 Leopardstown.
My fourth and final selection for the day comes from Kempton and in the 5.10, which is a low-grade Class 6 handicap that’s contested over a mile. I’m fairly strong on the chances of EULALIA here for the combination of Jack Morland and Kieran Shoemark. She’s a filly by Expert Eye, so should appreciate this step up to a mile, and posted her best effort to date when she was last seen in October, finishing third of fourteen over course and distance, and just a length behind the eventual winner. She didn’t have the clearest of passages either on that occasion, and had to switch to make her run. The handicapper has left her on the same mark following that outing, which has to make her a big player here if she isn’t too rusty following a break. There should be further progression to come from her.
Eulalia (3/1) (Win) (NAP) – 5.10 Kempton.
