2.15: Carlisle
SHE’S DIVINE – 11/8 (NB)
She’s a filly by Acclamation who made a fine start to her racing career at Wolverhampton just over two weeks ago, finishing half of a length second of five and was five lengths clear of the horse in third that day. She should almost certainly improve for that outing and be considerably sharper here on her second outing to date. She’s bred to be useful, and it would be disappointing should she not post a serious bid in this for the team of Mark & Billy Loughnane.
2.55: Salisbury
BLIND BEGGAR – 7/4
Mick Appleby’s seven-year-old has been an admirable campaigner for connections over the years, and he still often gives his running within competitive sprint handicaps. He was five lengths behind JM Jungle in the Epsom Dash when he was last seen, and before that, he ran two solid races in defeat at Carlisle and Ascot, where he wasn’t beaten that far. He’s on a tempting mark here, which is two pounds below his last winning one, and this looks more winnable than some of his recent assignments.
4.25: Salisbury
ASMEN WARRIOR – 4/5 (NAP)
He’s yet to get his head in front after five outings, however, that doesn’t tell the full story as he’s gone close within novice and maiden company, and most notably, ran two solid races within Class 2 & 3 handicaps at Newbury and York respectively. He was only three-quarters of a length behind the winner when fourth last time out in a York handicap, and the level of that form could be enough to take this. It would be disappointing should he not break his duck within this particular affair.
4.50: Carlisle
CRACK SHOT – 5/1
This five-year-old for Daniel & Claire Kubler has been frustrating to follow so far this season, as he’s been supported in the betting in each of his three starts and hasn’t delivered as of yet. His runs at Kempton and Sandown weren’t without promise, though, and he continues to drop down the weights and looks to be on a tempting mark here, as he’s now two pounds below his last winning mark. He should retain enough ability to get his head in front at Class 4 level, and he should go well here under David Egan.
