4.12 Hamilton: Weatherbys Global Stallions Handicap: The first of three selections for me on Thursday comes within the 4.12 at Hamilton, and this is a Class 4 handicap that’s contested over a mile and a furlong. I like Bubbles Wonky here for Tim Easterby and David Allan. He’s run well in both of his starts this campaign since being gelded, progressing from a fifth-place finish on his seasonal reappearance to being half a length second of seven at Hamilton last time out. He didn’t get a clear run either on that occasion, and with a clearer passage here, he should be making his presence felt off just a pound higher mark. Bubbles Wonky – 10/3 (1pt Win)
4.25 Lingfield: Each Way Extra At bet365 Handicap: My second selection of the afternoon comes from Lingfield and in the 4.25, which is a Class 5 handicap that’s ridden over seven furlongs. I’ve come down on Touchwood here, who represents Ruth Carr and is the mount of eyecatching jockey booking Oisin Murphy. He’s won over course and distance off a three-pound higher mark, and his last success came off a five-pound higher number, albeit that victory coming twelve months ago. He returned to form, though, last time out at Leicester when he finished third of ten, and will contest this off a pound lower mark on the all-weather. I think he can break his losing run in this. Touchwood – 10/3 (1pt Win)
5.17 Hamilton: #cleanstay At Hampton By Hilton Handicap: It’s back over to Hamilton for my third selection of the afternoon and the 5.17, which is a Class 6 handicap over a mile and four furlongs. I like another Ruth Carr runner here, and that’s Arch Legend, who’s the mount of James Sullivan. He progressed from his first start for this yard to finishing second of eleven at Beverley last month, two and a half lengths behind the winner. That was one of his best runs for a while, and it looks as though he could be ready to return to the winner’s enclosure based on that run. He’ll contest this off just a pound higher mark and is still six pounds below his last winning one. It’d be disappointing should he not have a serious say. Arch Legend – 5/2 (1pt Win)
